What are Minecraft Biomes?

Biomes are different areas with different weather patterns, ecosystems, features, and temperatures. Minecraft Biomes are divided into five categories:

  1. Lush
  2. Snowy
  3. Cold
  4. Dry
  5. Ocean

This guide will give you information about almost all the different Minecraft Biomes.

Plains: Minecraft Biomes

Temperature: 0.8

This Biome will be your default biome. These biomes are usually treeless and passive [edible] mobs also spawn here like cows, horses, sheep, and pigs. You can find all types of resources here as plain biomes usually border forests. In this biome villages and pillagers outpost may also be generated.

Plains- Minecraft Biomes

Sunflower Plains:

Temperature: 0.8

Sunflower Plains biome is the sub-biome of plains, you can find lots of sunflowers here. This biome is usually found inside large plains. Sunflowers were added to Minecraft in the 1.8 updates. Sunflower is usually used in making yellow dye.

Forest Biome: Minecraft Biomes

Temperature: 0.7

Forest Biome consists of oak and birch trees, flowers and mushrooms can also be found here. You can easily satisfy your need for wood here. Woodland Mansions can also spawn here. A lot of passive mobs, beehives, and bees can also spawn here.

Flower Forest:

Temperature: 0.7

A Flower Forest as per name consists of flowers of every type even rare ones. Rabbits can also spawn here. This biome is perfect for making dyes of every color.

Dark Forest:

Temperature: 0.7

Dark Forest consists of Dark Oak trees and they are tightly packed. The trees make dark shadows in which hostile mobs can spawn even in daylight. Mushrooms can also be found here. Woodland mansions can also generate in this biome and only in this biome.

Birch Forest:

Temperature: 0.6

A Birch Forest as by name consists of Birch trees. It doesn’t have many purposes only you’ll be able to get lots of birch wood from here.

Jungle Biome: Minecraft Biomes

Temperature: 0.95

This biome was added in the 1.2.1 update. A Jungle Biome consists of large and tall trees. The surface of the ground in this biome is covered in thick foliage. The trees in these biomes are covered in vines. Melons, cocoa pods, and jungle temples can also be found here. Rare mobs like parrots, pandas, and ocelots can also be found here.

Bamboo Jungle:

Temperature: 0.95

A Bamboo Jungle is the sub-biome of the Jungle and consists of large bamboo trees. The spawning rate of Pandas is high here. Pandas can drop slime balls when they sneeze. Jungle Biomes can also generate here.

Mountains Biome: Minecraft Biomes

Temperature: 0.2

A Mountain Biome consists of cliffs, peaks, floating islands, waterfalls, spires, valleys, alcoves, and more. You can find a great number of emeralds here which are used for trading. Llamas can also be found here. There is a significant risk of falling in this biome due to the heights of the mountains.

Gravelly Mountains:

These mountains consist of almost gravel, so there is a risk of mining in here since gravel is affected by gravity and it might fall on top of you.

A desert biome is on sand and sandstone blocks mainly. Dead bushes, cacti, brown rabbit, and dunes are also found here. Temples, villages, and pillagers outposts were also generated here. Deserts well can also be found but this is very rare. Hostile mobs like creepers and husks are spawn in this biome at night.

Taiga Biome consists of usually spruce trees. This Biome is good for survival mode as you can find lots of woods and passive mobs for food here. Ferns and berry bushes also grow here. Wolves, rabbits, and foxes are also found here. Villagers and pillager outposts may also generate in this biome.

Snowy Taiga:

Snowy taiga iome is similar to the taiga biome only amount of trees are more in the taiga biome. Wolves and foxes spawn naturally here. Igloo nestled can also be found between the trees. Villages and pillagers biomes may also generate in this biome.

Temperature: 0.0

In this biome, there is a huge amount of snow layers You can only find rabbits and a couple of polar bears here. Strays, a hostile mob that shoots arrows of slowness, also appear here. Pillagers outposts and villages may also generate here.

Ice Spikes:

Temperature: 0.0

This biome is very rare. In this biome, there are massive towers of solidly packed ice. The spikes are usually 10-20 blocks tall and some are over 50 blocks. The chances of resources and wildlife here are very low.

The Swamp biome usually consists of oak trees covered in veins and shallow bodies of discolored water. This biome is not much safe as witches and slime spawn in this biome. Lily pads and blue orchids occur naturally here. If you need sugar cane, then this biome is best for that.

Savannah Biome: Minecraft Biomes

Temperature: 1.2

Savannah Biome consists of acacia trees and dull, dry grass. Herds of llamas and horses are also found here. Villages and pillagers outposts may also generate here. Shattered savannah biomes consist of waterfalls of lava or water, steep mountains, and lakes. It is almost impossible to climb a 90-degree mountain.

Temperature: 2.0

This Biome is closely related to the desert but it consists of red sand. Cacti and dead bushes are also found here. In this biome, no passive mobs are spawned. You can find abandoned mineshaft here while mining. Chances of gold and terracotta are high here.

Beach Biome: Minecraft Biomes

Temperature: 0.8

Beaches generate when the ocean meets another biome. It usually consists of sand blocks. If you want to go fishing, beaches are the perfect spots for that. Sugar canes and turtles are also found here.

When a mountain biome clashes with the ocean, it makes a stone shore, and when any snow biome meets an ocean, it’s called a snowy beach.

River Biome: Minecraft Biomes

Temperature: 0.5

As the name suggests, this biome consists of river blocks that flow through any biome. It usually consists of sand, sugar canes, squid, clay, and salmon. They usually attempt to join the nearby ocean. But sometimes they just loop back into the same ocean from which they generated.

Frozen River:

Temperature: 0.0

When a river goes through a snowy biome, its upper layer freezes and is called the frozen river. only salmon and drowned are found here.

This is full of water blocks, and its floor is made up of gravel. This biome consists of Kelp, seagrass, salmon, and cod in it.

Warm Ocean:

This biome is full of vibrant colors. You can find a lot of aquatic wildlife here like squid, pufferfish, dolphins, tropical fish, and more. Coral reefs are naturally generated only in this biome. You can also find shipwrecks here. Kelps are not grown here.

This ocean has light blue water and consists of salmon and cod mostly. Corals are not grown in this biome. You can also find temples here, which are guarded by mysterious guardians.

This ocean has dark blue water. It only consists of cod, dolphins, and salmon. Ocean monuments can also be found here.

Frozen Ocean:

Temperature: 0.0

This ocean had dark indigo water. Only salmons and squids are found in this. The surface of this ocean is frozen and polar bears and strays can be found here.

Mushroom Filed Biome: Minecraft Biomes

Temperature: 0.9

This biome is very rare and is usually generated in the middle of the ocean. Its floor usually consists of mycelium which promotes the growth of mushrooms. All types of mushrooms can be found here. A special kind of cow is spawned here. Not a single mob is spawned here.

The Nether: Minecraft Biomes

Temperature: 2.0

This place was originally called hell. You cannot place water in these biomes. Lots of different kinds of mobs like ghasts, piglins, zombified piglins, wither skeletons, Endermen, and many more are found here and nether fortress can also be found here.

The sub-biome of nether are Soul Sand valley, Warped Forest, Crimson Forest, and Basalt Deltas.

The Void Biome: Minecraft Biomes

Temperature: 0.5

In this biome, the islands are floating in a black, static-filled void. The floor in this biome is of end stone. Endermen and ender dragon boss are spawned here. It is dotted with obsidian pillars topped with ender crystal.

End Islands:

Temperature: 0.5

These are the smaller islands, that represent the empty expanse between the larger parts of the island. Enndermens spawn rates are higher here.

There are parts of the outer island of the End. Endermen, Shulkers, and end cities are found here. End gateway portals may also generate here.

This biome usually represents the hilltop of each island and is the pinnacle of the End. You can find end cities and chorus trees here.

Temperature: 0.5

It usually represents the outer rims of each outland which consist of cliffs that drop into a whole lot of nothing, that will kill you.
