Pixel 6A only for $449: What It Has to Offer?

It would be interesting to see how a new model of the Pixel range maintains the same features at a lower price.

Google is officially announcing the Pixel 6A, which embraces the company’s new design language and custom chipset but keeps the 5A’s $449 price tag.

Have you seen Pixel 7’s first look?

The Pixel 6A will probably target a slightly younger and more budget-conscious consumer than the big brother Pixel 6 and 6 Pro.

The new device features a slightly smaller display and an improved camera while sticking with the same price tag as its predecessor.

The new phone follows last year’s larger Pixel 6 and 6 Pro in featuring a raised horizontal camera bump and a two-tone body, with the fingerprint sensor located below the screen rather than on the back panel. And there’s good news if you think the 6 series is too big—the 6A comes with a slightly smaller 6.1-inch OLED 1080p display.

The key innovations of the Pixel 6 series are their uber-elegant high-end design and Google’s own proprietary System-On-Chip (SOC) Tensor, which allows the search giant to stop relying on Qualcomm Snapdragon hardware.

Design & Features:

Google’s newest phone is designed to be a smaller, less expensive version of its flagship devices. The Pixel 6a has a smaller screen than the Pixel 6, with the 6a having a 6.1-inch display with a resolution of 2400×1080.

It also has a lower refresh rate at 60Hz, compared to the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. The design of the phone is very similar to its two other siblings. However, because the front glass has been downgraded from Gorilla Glass 5 to Gorilla Glass 3, it does not have an IP68 rating as it does on the other two. Inside, the Pixel 6a runs on a Google Tensor SoC which is very similar to the ones found in its siblings, along with having a Titan M2 security chip.

Other features include 5G connectivity, always-on display, in-display fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers, dual microphones, and HDR support, out of the box with Android 12 pre-installed on it along with five years of security updates guaranteed by Google for free.

Storage:

The RAM has been dropped, the 6’s having 8GB of RAM while 6a has 6GB, but 6a still has 128GB storage.

Camera:

The 6a has the same main camera as the flagship, so it’s fun to play with the low-light Night Sight and Magic Eraser features. I like how you can adjust the color of an object after using Magic Eraser. It makes me think of artistic edits in some photo-editing apps. It has a 12 Megapixel rare camera and 8 Megapixel selfie camera.

Battery:

The Pixel 6A comes with a smaller 4,400mAh battery than the 5A’s 4,680mAh cell, but Google still claims it will last a full day like its predecessor. In fact, it’s claiming three days of use in Extreme Battery Saver mode, that’s a full day longer than it claimed for the 5A.

Release Date and Availability:

Three colors are announced for the Pixel 6a, Chalk, Sage, and Charcoal. Pre-orders start on July 21 and will start delivering on July 28. This phone will be available in many countries including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan Puerto Rico, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, The United Kingdom, and The United States.
